First Chairman in history from opposition


Rustam Ali Farazi, Member of Parliament from Jatiya Party has been made the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts for the first time in Bangladesh's parliamentary history. Chief Whip Nur-E-Alam Chowdhury proposed to establish ten parliamentary committees on Sunday. Later on these committees were passed through oral votes.

Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts include Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, Abul Kalam Azad, Abdush Shaheed, Afsarul Amin, Shahiduzzaman Sarker, RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Salman F Rahman, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Shwapan, Jahirul Haque Bhuiyan Mohon, Manzur Hossain, Ahsanul Haque Titu and Mostafa Lutfullah.

According to parliamentary code, Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts will examine all the expenditures of the government's activities. This committee can also make necessary suggestions regarding expenditures of government offices and projects.Former minister and Workers Party's President Rashed Khan Menon has been made Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Social Welfare Ministry.

Former minister Mostafizur Rahman has been made Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry. Ekabbar Hossain has been made Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Roads, Transports and Bridges Ministry.

Ramesh Chandra Sen has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources Ministry. AB Tajul Islam has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry.Shahiduzzaman Sarker has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

Abdush Shahid has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Projected Expenditures.Abdullah Al Islam Jacob has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Ministry of Youth and Sports.RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury has been made Chairman, Parliamentary Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry.
