Robert Miller, US Ambassador to Bangladesh visited Jessore on Monday to take a look at the flower farms in Godkhali and Panisara upazilas.
A delegation team of 20 officials belonging to USAID accompanied Robert Miller and his wife Mitchell during the visit.Robert Miller said that Bangladesh can sell flowers of 1, 500 million dollars every year and can also export flowers to foreign countries.
Robert Miller further said that the United States has sound economic ties with Bangladesh and USA is interested to work with Bangladesh in the agricultural arena with more importance.USAID has been working to expand the involvement of women in farming flowers in Bangladesh, Robert Miller commented.
Aniruddha Roy, Adviser, USAID said that USAID is helping farmers grow high quality flowers which is why productivity has increased by 150%. USAID will work in future for the packaging, grading and export potentialities of flowers, Aniruddha Roy added.
