Exemplary punishment of student murder sought

Dhaka based Barisal dwellers have sought exemplary punishment of the murderers who killed BM College student Rubel Mia. A group of student including Dhaka University pupils formed a human chain yesterday with their demand. Rubel, 21, son of Gias Uddin of Wazirpur Upzila was an Honors first year student of Government BM College Barisal. He was stabbed dead in city's Bangabandhu Udyan on February 14. Followed by the death, locals bet up one Mehedi Hasan Roni and handed him over police. Former Dhaka University BCL president at yesterday's human chain said: "We want capital punishment." Meantime, upzila AL member Shahin Mahmud Halder said they could not accept the death. Echoing the BCL leader, he wanted death penalty of the murderers.
