Chattogram Regional Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) recently held a discussion on sustainable development goal at a hotel in Agrabad area of Chattogram.
Professor Dr Md Salim Uddin, FCA, FCMA, Chairman, Executive Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited and Chairman, Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation presented a key note paper on 'Sustainable Development Goal- SDG: A Universal Call for Transforming the World' at the programme.
Dr. Md Salim Uddin in his speech said that "All the standards of SDGs emphasize the implementation of good governance. As a result, it is possible to reduce corruption from society by focusing on modern control system, rule of law in the national institutions."
Bangladesh has made significant progress in achieving the SDGs on various parameters including implementation of human rights, elimination of gender discrimination and empowerment of women, he said. He urged to the stakeholders to build trust and faith of the people, ensure honesty, transparency and accountability to achieve the SDGs.
