5 killed in Mumbai footbridge collapse
A footbridge near a railway station in the Indian city of Mumbai has collapsed, leaving at least five people dead and many injured.

The footbridge connecting a platform of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus CSMT railway station and a lane near the Times of India building collapsed on Thursday evening, according to the NDTV.

 Two of the dead were nurses of the GT Hospital who were returning home during the incident, the ToI newspaper said and added that two more died later.
Three more deaths were reported later while the number of injured was at least 34.

People were on the bridge when it collapsed, the Maharashtra government said. Railways and Mumbai civic body will jointly conduct a probe into the incident, Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde announced, according to the report.

The debris was cleared and the road would reopen shortly, Mumbai police said later in the night.
