The Indian High Commission is set to celebrate the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day in the city tomorrow. Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon will attend the celebrations to be held at the Main Auditorium, IDEB Bhaban, as the chief guest.
High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das will also be present on the occasion. The ITEC Program was instituted in 1964 as part of India's Development Assistance Program within the framework of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation and the South-South cooperative strategy, offering developing countries the benefit of India's development experience and appropriate technologies.
Every year more than 10,000 training slots are offered to 161 partner countries for training courses in various areas like Accounts, Audit, Management, SME, Rural Development, Parliamentary Affairs, etc. Over 3800 young Bangladeshi professionals have undergone such specialized short and medium term courses in India under the ITEC programme since 2007.
Around 300 ITEC alumni from all walks of life, besides distinguished guests, are expected to attend the ITEC Day, said the High Commission on Thursday. A short cultural program will also be held.
