DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as chief guest at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium on the campus, said a DU press release.
The Center for Genocide Studies of DU organised the conference. Director of the Center Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmed presided over the inaugural function while DU Bangabandhu Chair Prof Dr Muntasir Mamoon delivered the
keynote paper on Politics of Genocide. The inaugural function was also addressed by Prof Dr Delwar Hossain of DU International Relations Department. While addressing the programme, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md.
Akhtaruzzaman said, “Our students would learn and know the real history of the Liberation War and Genocide of 1971 through such kind of international conferences.” “The worst example of genocide was DU campus where teachers, students, officials and employees were brutally killed by Pakistani barbaric army,” he pointed out.
