JCD president held over derogatory remark about Liberation War


Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a leader of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal (JCD) for spreading derogatory remark about the Liberation War and anti-state propaganda on social media.   

Ashek Ahmed, 40, president of JCD, was arrested from Tejgaon area on Sunday night, confirmed commanding officer of RAB-3 Emranul Hasan at a press conference at the media centre in the city’s Karwan Bazar on Monday.

He said the elite force found derogatory remarks regarding the country’s Liberation War and some national leaders with pictures on his Facebook wall. 

Ashek confessed that he was a former student of Dhaka University (DU) Public Administration Department. He was the vice-president of JCD of Bangabandhu Hall Unit at the university.

He is also the vice-president of Sewachhasebak  Dal of Natore unit.   

Legal process against him is underway in this connection, the officer said.
