The third edition of the Sylhet film festival will be held from 23rd April organized by Sylhet Agricultural University Film Society.
The festival was supposed to start on March 30, but at the last moment Sylhet Agricultural University Film Society postponed the festival due to the death of a student of Sylhet Agricultural University campus, Md. Wasim Abbas who was brutally murdered by a bus driver and the conductor of the bus in the disguise of a road accident on March 23, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Sylhet Film Festival is welcomed by the film makers, critics, writers, actors and actresses from country & abroad. Writer Md. Zafar Iqbal, Anisul Hoque, Munir Hasan, Filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee, Indrashis Aharjee, Arnab K Middya from India, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, Ashraf Shisir, Fakhrul Arefin Khan, Muktadir Ibna Salam, Shubhashish Roy, Shameem Akhter from Bangladesh, Film producer Arifur Rahman, Actor Mosharrof Karim, Manoj Kumar, Humayun Sadhu, Actress Priyam Archi, Writer Bidhan Rebeiro, Film society activist Ankit Bagchi from India & director of Russian center for culture & science in Bangladesh Mr. Alexander P. Demin already sent videotaped welcome message to the festival.
Dr. Md Zafar Iqbal said, 'The film is the most important among all the medium of art. Filmmaking is such a big deal, film festival organizing is also a big deal.
