2,160 farmers get seeds, fertilizers in Meherpur

A total of 2,160 farmers of Sadar upazila of the district got seeds and fertilizers under Agriculture Incentive Program during Aus and Kharif seasons free of cost. The objective of the seeds and the fertilizers distribution among the farmers was to inspire them to cultivate Aus paddy at a low cost to strengthen the country's food security, official sources said, reports BSS.

On this occasion, a function was organized by Sadar upazila agriculture office at its conference room yesterday. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain addressed the function as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Ataul Gani in the chair. Police super Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, Deputy Director (DD) of DAE Dr Md Akhteruzzaman and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Masudul Alam were present as the special guests.

The chief guest said, the present government is working relentlessly for overall development of the farmers. Each of the farmers got 15-kg DSP fertilizers, 10-kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) and 5-kg of Aus seeds.
