Don’t do politics during disaster: Hasan Mahmud to BNP
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday urged BNP not to do politics during disaster or any national crisis.

"BNP has a bad habit of doing politics with any issue, now they are doing that centering cyclone Fani. We didn't face major loss due to the necessary measures the government had taken earlier," he said while speaking at a seminar as the chief guest at Kabi Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum.

Bangladesh Mahila Awami League arranged the seminar titled "Our duties to eradicate militancy."

Citing the example of India, the Minister said, "All the Indian political parties worked together when the Indian soldiers were attacked in Kashmir. But BNP always opposes the government instead of helping it during any national crisis."

While talking about prevention of militancy the Minister said BNP patronizes terrorists instead of trying to eradicate terrorism.

Presided over by Mahila Awami League president SafiaKhatun, International Affairs secretary of Awami League Dr Shammi Ahmed, former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, economist Prof Dr Abul Barakat, among others, were present at the program.

Emphasizing education at family level to eradicate militancy Prof Arefin Siddique said only law enforces can't remove militancy from the society.

"Education in family, religious education and public awareness can help eradicate militancy and terrorism from the country," he said.
