3rd edition of Dhaka Doclab to begin in August

The third edition of Dhaka Doclab, an international workshop-cum-market pitching program for promoting South Asian filmmakers in international market, will begin on August 26 at Liberation War Museum in Agargaon. Dhaka Independent Film Network (DIFN), a platform of local indie makers, has been organizing the Doclab since 2017.

The six-day program will include four-day mentoring and two-day documentary project pitching sessions.  'The main intention of organizing this program is to provide a platform for local and south Asian filmmakers and help them access international market.

The participants will gain knowledge about international co-productions at the program,' said Tareq Ahmed, director of Doclab. 'Thirty young filmmakers from South Asian countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Afghanistan will participate in the Doclab. From among them 18 will get the opportunity to pitch their projects in the last two-days of the program,' added Tareq.

Filmmakers, broadcasters, sales agents, producers and festival managers from different countries will also participate in the event.Young and upcoming filmmakers can submit proposals of their documentary projects at the website of Dhaka Doclab at http://dhakadoclab.org/ or at the facebook page of Dhaka Doclab at https://www.facebook.com/dhakadoclab/.

From among the total submissions, 18 projects will be selected by a selection committee for mentoring and pitching at Doclab. The organizers hope that some of the projects might attract local or foreign producers, broadcasters and festival authorities.
