Special tribunal sought to punish rapists

Awami League Presidium member and 14-party spokesperson Mohammed Nasim has demanded awarding punishment to rapists and repressors of women by forming a special tribunal.

"The number of women repression and rape has been increased (alarmingly). So, I request the law minister to punish the rapists and oppressors through forming a special tribunal," Nasim told a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organized the discussion, marking the home coming day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chaired by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote President Sarah Begum Kabari, the discussion was addressed, among others, by AL Advisory Council Member Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam and central executive committee member Advocate Qamrul Islam.

Nasim said, "I will tell the law enforcement agencies that the rapists are criminals. Please, take necessary steps to ensure exemplary punishment to them".He said BNP is now scattered as a party. When a party becomes scattered, there is a fear of conspiracy, he said, urging all to remain alert against them (BNP).
