A mobile court has fined three watermelon vendors Tk 30,000 in Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria. As part of regular market monitoring during the holy month of Ramadan, the traders were fined during a drive conducted by a mobile court in Ashuganj railway gate area on Wednesday.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Nazimul Haider said three traders have been fined Tk 30,000 as per the provisions of the Consumer Rights Act for selling watermelon by weighing.
A senior lawyer at Brahmanbaria Judge Court said, there is a legal binding to sell fruits, raw materials and vegetables by weighing or counting in piece, pair, hali, dozen and twenty.
