When service-seekers enter into the office room of officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Model Police Station, they get astonished to see a signboard on the wall of the room saying "No fee for filing cases or lodging complaints here'.
This initiative taken by Daudkandi Police Station has earned wide appreciation in the area as poor and helpless people are getting legal services without hassles.
Md Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Model Police Station, said, 'The signboard has been hung in front of the main gate of police station so that service-seeking people can see it and keep them safe from being cheated'.
'Everyone should be aware of reducing bribe, corruption and drugs. If we become sincere, it is possible to make a society free from all kinds of crimes and we can provide people with proper service', he added.
Rafiq Mia, a resident at Bittola village under Daudkandi upazila, told The Asian Age, 'I went to police station some days ago in connection with an incident of clash. I filed a case without paying money. Besides, I was given two chocolates, which dispelled fear from me."
Sheuli Akter, a female member of Goalmari Union Parishad, said, 'I have learnt that no money is taken from service-seekers who come to Daudkandi Model Police Station.'
