Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has visited the camp of Ukhiya Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox's Bazar. On Sunday at 1 pm, at the CIC office of Kutupalong Camp 2, Ukhiya exchanged views with government officials and Rohingya leaders for half-an-hour.
During his visit, the minister said no Rohingya will be forced to return to Myanmar unless the Rohingyas have full citizenship there. The minister wanted to know from Rohingya leaders, what is the problem with the camp.
Responding to this, Rohingya leaders said that the medical, education system, night security and NGOs are acting responsibly without coordinating with Rohingyas.The minister listened to these allegations and assured them of solving these problems. The minister will inform the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about the problems of Rohingyas.
President of the Arakan Society for Human Rights Mahibullah told the minister that the Myanmar government did not call them Rohingya. Ashyan is referring to the 5 lakh Rohingya refunds in Myanmar for two years.Rohingyas will not be able to return if they do not give freedom and movement of land and education system.
Refugee relief and rehabilitation commissioner Abul Kalam, Ukhiya Upazila Executive Officer Md Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Ukhiya Circle) Nahian Adnan Tahian, Camp in-charge Rezaul Karim, and Pahal, were present in the meeting.
Apart from the Rohingya leaders, Master Rahim, Master Mahibullah, Master Kamal, Master Elias, Master Shafiq, Haji Oli Ullah, Master Nakib, Master Salim, Master Seyad, Master Sadek, Sirajun Nessa and Rashida Begum among women leaders were also present. The minister left the camp for Cox's Bazar at around 2:30 pm after visiting the camp.
