Repaired road ends people's sufferings

After 30 years, a construction of one-km road initiated by the local Member of Parliament (MP) has eased the movement of more than one lakh people of Thakurpara area under Jorgaca union in Sonatola upazila of Bogura.

According to Water Development Board (WDB) , around 1 km road from Buramela to South Boira was eroded by Shukdaha river during the flood of 1988 hampering the movement of huge numbers of people including  patients, students and other professions of 8 unions of the upazila. They had to cross at least 6 km instead of 1 km.

Local Member of Parliament (MP) and former central organizing secretary of Awami League, central committee, Abdul Mannan marked the matter as per his commitment during the last national election and communicated with the high officials of WDB and the road was constructed under mining project of the department within 15 days and made the road made for the use.

Tozammel, Sofur, Safi of Thakurpara village, Saidur of Hatkoromja village and Liton of Gongsharpara village said that they had been suffering from the damage of the road for long 30 years and now they are happy of constructing the road. Advocate Minhaduzzaman Liton chairman of Sonatola upazila parishad told The Asian Age that at the initiative of local MP, the road construction became possible and made the movement of the people easy.

Contacted, Abdul Mannan, Local Member of Parliament (MP) of Bogura-01 constituency said that the damaged road was instantly constructed and it will be taken under carpeting very soon for the smooth movement of the people.
