Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first against Australia on Saturday at Kennington Oval, London.
Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne said the wicket was under the cover for the rain. So it might help the bowler at the start of the game, and this is why they opted to bowl first against the defending champions.
Citing the same reason, Australian captain Aaron Finch told the broadcaster that he too would have opted to bowl first.
Before this match, Sri Lanka played four games and two of them were washed out due to rain. Of the remaining matches, they won one and lost the other.
Australia, on the other hand, played as many matches and won three of them and lost one.
