Padma Bridge rumor, one arrested In the middle is the arrestee Md Arman Hossain (20) with two members of RAB-7 on Friday.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrests a young man on charge of reportedly spreading rumor in the social media that "Padma Bridge will need human skull and blood."

The arrestee is Md Arman Hossain (20), Arman is the son of Md Hasem Prakash of Barkhain of the Anowara upazila.
ASP, RAB-7, Md Maskur Rahman said that they arrested Arman from Tailardwip area of Anwara Upazila at dawn on Friday.

Camp Commander, Chandgao Camp, RAB-7, Major Mehedi Hasan said, Arman Hossain has been spreading propaganda over padma bridge which is 'human sacrifice is needed for Padma Bridge' on facebook and other social media for quite some time. By the help of IT department RAB managed to detect his position and arrested him.

Earlier, on July 8, at 5:34pm Arman shared a video titled 'Human sacrifice is needed for construction of Padma Bridge, Thousands of people left village, already 4 people gone missing '. Besides, he has been reportedly sharing other propaganda posts about Padma Bridge on his facebook account.

On July 9, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, in a notice, urged the country people not to pay heed to the rumour about the need for a human sacrifice for the Padma Bridge project, reports UNB.

The ministry also said it has noticed that propaganda is being spread by a certain group on social media. "It's a rumour. Spreading such rumour is a criminal offence," the ministry said.

Meanwhile on Thursday this week, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader warned of stern action against the people who are spreading rumour on "human sacrifice" for Padma Bridge construction on Thursday."The people who are spreading such rumour will not be spared and they must face punishment," he said while talking to reporters after a programme at Setu Bhaban in Dhaka.

Quader, also general secretary of ruling Awami League, said the Bridge Division under the ministry has already talked to different intelligent agencies and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) to find out the people behind the rumour.
