45,000 people marooned, seek relief Marooned family using boat for entering their houses at Bairati Village in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district. -Babul Alam Zadu

Around 90 thousand people of 80 villages in five upazilas under the district have already got marooned by floodwater from Teesta and Dharla rivers, Sub-divisional engineer of Water Development Board Dowani Point informed that, the flood situation in Lalmonirhat district has become worsen the water of the river flowing 55centimetres above the danger level. Abdul Kalam said, we won't stay in our house at night with our children if they fell down from bed into water. We need safe shelter and food.

Monnaf Ali, residence of Bairaty embankment who has got rice as relief goods said, "We will get relief goods as earlier it is unexpected, thanks PM, and thanks Upazila Chairman." On the other hands Abdul Kalam said, we won't stay in our house at night with our children if they fell down from bed into water. We need safe shelter and food.

 Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Rabiul Hasan monitoring the relief distribution activities and went to river embankment where the Dam has broken. He told the affected people that, we have the nearest primary and other higher fields you can shift there when you need.

Samiul Alim, residence of Nohani said, their all belongings and stock of foods has washed away by the river erosions.Around 110 metric tonnes of rice , 2 lack 50 thousand of Tk and 500 bags of dry food  have been distributed among the flood affected people in the area since this morning, said Lalmonirhat ADC General (revenue) Rafiqule Islam said.
