Asian Indoor Hockey: Bangladesh suffer 0-6 defeat to Malaysia in opener

Debutants Bangladesh National Hockey team conceded a 0-6 goals defeat to the upper-ranked Malaysia in the opening match of AHF Men's Asian Indoor Hockey2019 at the Thai city of Chonburion on Monday.

Shafiq Yaacob and Faridzul Mohammad scored two goals each while Shello Silverius and Firdaus Omar netted one goal each for Malaysia.

With the day’s win, Malaysia have secured 3 points while Bangladesh yet to open the account.

Bangladesh got an early blow while Shafiq Yaacob scored the first goal for Malaysia from the penalty corner in the 2nd minute (1-0).

In the 5th minute, Faridzul Mohammad doubled the margin (2-0) while Shello Silverius scored the third goal for Malaysia in the 15th minute (3-0).   

Shafiq Yaacob netted his second goal converting the Penalty Stroke correctly in the 20th minute (4-0).

In the second half, Faridzul Mohammad scored his second goal in the 37th minute (5-0) while his teammate Firdaus Omar sealed the victory for Malaysia in the 39th minute scoring the sixth goal of the match (6-0).

The match saw one Bangladeshi player -- Rashel Mahmud--  getting yellow card in the 38th minute.

In the next match, Bangladesh face off play holders Iran on July 16 at the same venue. The match will kick off at 3 pm (BdST).
