Apparently, several young girls (probably 8-10 years old, but by all means, correct me if I'm wrong) were taught a very vulgar dance, albeit, difficult moves, wearing extremely vulgar clothes, imitating the performance of a song called All the single ladies (again, correct me if I'm wrong).
And apparently, this performance by these (hopefully) oblivious and innocent young girls was presented during one of the breakfast shows. Now, how did I come to know this piece of information? - Well, a couple of days ago I happened to catch a snippet of a current affairs show, a genre I make a point not to watch. The piece on this was expressing exasperation and the absurdity of:
a) airing such a performance on a breakfast show, and
b) dressing these young girls in such an attire as to make them look like "sexual kittens", if I correctly remember the term that was used.
One does not need to be familiar with Frontline to see the reason for re-airing significant lengths of footage of that performance during the presentation of that piece, all the while going on about the evils of airing such an exhibition. Terms such as "absurd", "irony", "illogical" and "contradiction" come to mind. I can, of course, go on, but I wouldn't want to bore ... well, myself.
Honestly, if the current affairs show is going to air the same footage, what point are they trying to make? If they do want people to see "this is how kids are being degraded as sexual objects, a maximum of 5 second footage would be enough.
