He made the announcement while responding to a supplementary question from BNP MP Rumeen Farhana in Parliament.
Rumeen sought attention of the minister to drop the section 25 of the Upazila Parishad Act 1998 which stipulated that MPs from respective constituencies will function as advisers to local government unit.
She said the provision of the law also contradictory with Article 59 of the Constitution and its creating obstacle to elected representatives to work independently.
Rumeen asked the minister to inform the House whether there is any move to drop the provision from the law.
In response, the state minister said the government has no move to drop the provision.
According to Article 59 of the Constitution, 'Local government in every administrative unit of the Republic shall be entrusted to bodies, composed of persons elected in accordance with law.'
