Britain and the United States have often seemed lashed together amid the populist storms of the last few years - Brexit and the Trump White House echoing and amplifying each other across the Atlantic.

But in one respect they have radically diverged. In London, rebels in the Conservative Party staged a dramatic insurrection in the past week against Prime Minister Boris Johnson, blocking his plan to withdraw Britain from the European Union even without a deal.

In Washington, scarcely a handful of Republicans have stood up to President Trump, even when he has flouted party orthodoxy on issues like trade, immigration and the deficit.


The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will hold a week long job fair beginning Monday to fill positions still available at their new guitar shaped hotel.

When it opens on October 24th, it will have 19 dining outlets and 20 bars. Monday and Tuesday's job fairs will be culinary specific. Restaurants at the resort will span from fine to casual dining. Positions of need in the culinary department include stewarding and cooks.


President Donald Trump said that he canceled secret meetings with major Taliban leaders and the president of Afghanistan, set for Sunday at Camp David, and discontinued peace negotiations after a U.S. soldier was killed.

The sudden demise of the talks may doom direct U.S. negotiations with the Taliban that held out the prospect of ending 18 years of combat in Afghanistan, making it America's longest-running war. The planned meeting revealed by Trump on Saturday had been a closely-held secret.
