Bangladesh archery team comprising Ruman Shana, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Tamimul Islam will face against China in the final of the recurve men's team event today in the Asia Cup World Ranking (Archery) Tournament, Stage-3 in Philippines.
Earlier, Bangladesh archery team beat Thailand by 5-3 set in the quarterfinal before beating Malaysia by 5-3 set in the semifinal to confirm final spot.
In recurve mixed team event, Bangladesh archery team (Ruman Shana and Beauty Roy) lost to China by 6-0 set in the semifinal after beating Thailand by 5-1 set in the quarterfinal. Bangladesh will play for Bronze medal today against Chinese Taipei in the third place decider match. Bangladesh top archer Mohammad Ruman Shana, who has qualified for the upcoming Olympics as the first Bangladeshi archer, will compete for gold medal of men's recurve individual today.
Earlier, Ruman Shana beat China's Ta La by 6-4 sets in the semi-final on Wednesday. He will face China's Shi Zhenqi in the final. Ruman outclassed Chinese Taipei's Yang Huie-Jhe by 7-1 set in the quarter-final, Thailand's Thepna Denchai by 6-0 set in the third round and Myanmar's Thiha Htet Zaw in the second round to book semifinal spot.
The two other Bangladeshi archers, Hakim Ahmed Rubel suffered defeat in the second round and Tamimul Islam was eliminated from the third round. In women's Recurve singles, Beauty Roy eliminated from the second round.
