A human chain has been held at Ishwardi demanding the construction of a second Padma bridge in the Y pattern by uniting Aricha-Manikganj-Daulatdia-Rajbari by connecting Kazirhat, a town in Pabna.
The humanitarian program was celebrated under the banner of 'Pabna District Development Forum' in front of the Ishwardi Press Club at 9am on Friday demanding the implementation of the Trimukhi 2nd Padma Bridge.
Upazila chairman and freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas presided over the meeting. Municipal Mayor Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Zila Parishad Member Shafiul Alam Biswas, Press Club general secretary Abdul Baten, councilors, Ashraf Kasin, Shimul, Shimul, Shimul Amin, and others.
Joint convener Murad Malitha, Awami League leader Zahurul Haque Puno, journalist SM Raj, Touhid Akhter Panna, Awami League leader Khaleque Malitha, Julmat Haider and others were present. Leaders of various levels of political, social, cultural institutions and Ishwardi residents were present in the human chain.
Speakers said the construction of the second Padma Bridge, along with the railway line has now become a demand for timely reduction of pressure on the Jamuna Bridge and connecting Pabna with North Bengal and South Bengal to ensure short-term travel to the capital and prevent road accidents.
There is no alternative to the 2nd Padma Bridge for the overall development of the surrounding districts including Pabnaand ease of communication with the whole country, including the capital Dhaka.
