The former leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia unit demonstrated on the campus in Kushtia on Sunday demanding removal of the university's proctor, Professor M Mahbubar Rahman,
Over one hundred leaders and activists, led by Jubayer Rahman and Faisal Siddique Arafat, went to the university's main entrance and locked up it at around 1:50pm.
Later, they went to the administrative building shouting different slogan against the proctor. No university and rented bus could go out from the campus that creates problem for the teachers, employees and students of the university.
They threatened to go on tougher movement if the university authorities failed to press home their demand, an agitating BCL activist said.
IU proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman said that they stood against him as he declared to remove drugs and outsiders from the university within seven days. IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said that they were trying to solve the problem after completing a discussion with the BCL men.
