Water of the Padma continues to rise in Lalpur upozila of Natore district. Three thousands families have become waterlogged in three unions. Shelters have been opened for people living these flooded unions. Upazila administration has declared Bilmaria High School in Bilmaria Union, Gouripur High School in Ishwardi Union and Lalpur Pilot High School in Lalpur Union as shelter for affected people.

Already the people of Chor started to come to the shelter but others took shelter in the houses of relatives at safe places places. Upazila administration has confirmed that 3,000. Among the affected unions, Bilmaria Union was the worst affected as water continued to rise. In this union, vegetables and water bricks were drowned in water. On the other hand, the chars are immersed in water in Ishwardi and Lalpur Union.

However, people have been coming to the shelter. Local agriculture department has confirmed the loss of winter vegetables on 25 hectares of land.  Lalpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Isahaq Ali said, a letter has been sent to the concerned ministry demanding the relief for rehabilitation program. But still now, dry foods were distributed in three unions on Wednesday.

Mahbubur Rahman, Executive Engineer of the Natore Water Development Board, said Water is expected to cross the danger line as it continues to rise.UNO Lalpur Ummul Banien Duti said the shelter has already been set up for the safety of affected people. Chairmen's of the three affected union have been requested to list the victims.
