‘Climate migrants deserve equity’

Government and Civil Society Leaders from climate vulnerable countries on Tuesday demanded equity, capacity and human rights from global community for climate induced migrants."Climate induced displacement which is being increasing in climate vulnerable countries like Bangladesh, deserve equity, capacity and human rights treatment from global community especially from UN as they are not at all responsible for this fate," said Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque.
The plea came at the side event of World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) titled 'Climate induced Displacement: Humanitarian and Right Perspective' held at Lutfi Kirdar Convention Center in Istanbul. The event was organized by fifteen civil society organizations from the world and moderated by Rezaul Karim Chowdhury of COAST Bangladesh.
