BCL leaders threat DU students of death with Gun, 2 held

Dhaka University (DU) proctorialbody on Tuesday evening held two former leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League(BCL) with Pistol, Yaba and local arms after two hours of threatening a studentwith a pistol in the hall.

 

The duo were identified as DUunit former deputy sports secretary also student of Institute of EducationResearch Hasibur Rahman Tushar  andformer deputy finance affairs secretary of DU BCL  also Islamic History and culture departmentstudent  Abu Bakar Alif.

 

DU proctorial team raided at HaziMohammad Mohsin Hall of DU in the evening and picked up two BCL leaders fromRoom 121 with Yaba and arm and handed over the duo to Shahbagh police station.They recovered one original pistol with loaded magazine, a fake AK-47, sixpieces of Yaba, cash 32,200 taka and two CCTV cameras installed outside thedoor.

 

The two were later handed over tothe police, University Proctor Professor Dr ASM Golam Rabbani confirmed thematter and said, "Two students held with one loaded gun, Yaba and somelocal arms from Hazi Mohammad Mohsin Hall".

 

Victim Riaz Farazi's, studentscholarship secretary of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall, said, "In the eveningTuser, Alif and Imran Forhadi came to 314 no room to occupy it.  When I bar them to do this, Tuser hurled someabusive words to me and went back to his room".

 

"Later, he called me in hisroom. When I went into the room he grabbed a pistol in myhead and threatened me to death if Icontinue politics in the campus", he added.

 

Farazi also said, "Tuserasked me to do only study and go out of the hall otherwise he will killme".

 

“Then I informed my seniors.Later, at 9:00 pm I heard that proctorial team raided his room”, he added. 

 

Contacted hall provostDr. Md. Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan said, “We made two attempts to catch him inprevious times but failed because of a former BCL leader’s—Former BCL DU unitpresident Abid Al Hasan—intervention”.
