A human chain was formed and a protest procession was brought out protesting the embracement of around 70 lakh money of Niamatpur Uttarpara Boro Jam-E-Masjid under Kamalla union in Muradnagar of Cumilla on Tuesday morning.
Locals informed The Asian Age that they have been saving money in mosque's fund for the development of mosque from last twelve years. Around four 4 years ago, they knew the information from the former treasurer of mosque committee Alim Uddin that the saving money of the mosque was around 70 lakh.
Later Monu Mia and other people asked money from Alim Uddin for the development work of the mosque but Alim Uddin refused to give the calculation of money. When local people pressurized him for the money he resigned from the mosque committee.
On the protest meeting vice president of present committee Abu Sayem, treasurer Abdul Jabbar and member Mawlana Alauddin told that Alim Uddin had been fulfilling the responsibility of the treasurer of the mosque since 26 years but till now he has not given any money or even settle the accounts to the present committee.
After the incident of grabbing money, local youths pressurized him to give the money back for the development work of the mosque but Alim Uddin threatened them to harass with false cases. All classes of people in Muradnagar of Cumilla demand the interference of administration to get the mosque money back.
