Protesters demand banning student politics at Buet

Protesters demand banning student politics at Buet

Former and current students and teachers of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Buet demanded outlawing student politics at the university on Wednesday.

They brought out a silent procession on the campus in the morning and sought capital punishment for the killers of Abrar Fahad, a second-year EEE student beaten to death on early Monday at his residential hall.

EEE department Chairmen Professor Dr Shafiqul Islam, said, “We demand capital punishment for the killers. We don’t want to see recurrence of such incidents.”

He said he hoped the university administration and law enforcers will take proper actions against the criminals to ensure justice.

Meanwhile, Buet students are continuing protests for the third consecutive day on the campus to press for eight demands, including capital punishment for the killers.
