U-19s lose fouth one-dayer

After winning the five-match Youth ODI series 3-0, Bangladesh U-19 suffered first defeat against New Zealand U-19 side by four wickets in their 4th one-day match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln on Wednesday.

Sent in to bat first, the junior Tigers put up a challenging total of 295 for eight wickets in 50 overs.  In reply, the hosts chased down the target scoring the match winner 296 for 6 in 49.1 overs to seal the victory by four wickets.

Batting first, Bangladesh's top-order batsmen did well. Both of the openers- Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon- hit fifties. Tanzid scored 51 off 44 balls with nine fours and one six while Emon finished on 55 off 82 with five fours and one six as well.

Besides, Towhid Hridoy and captain Akbar Ali also struck the fifties. Towhid hit 73 off 77 with two fours and three sixes, while Akbar posted 66 off 44 with eight fours and two sixes. Mahmudul Hasan Joy (13), Shahadat Hossain (12) and Avishek Das (13) were the other notable batsmen reaching double digit.
