World Eye Day observed in Nakla

World Eye Day observed in Nakla Primary Eye Care Center of Nakla arranged a procession marking 'World Sight Day-2019' at Nakla in Sherpur on Thursday. -AA

The World Eye day-2019 was observed across Nakla Upzila as elsewhere in the country in Nakla of Sherpur on Thursday. On the occasion, a colorful rally has been organized to mark the day with the theme of "At first sighting". The rally organized by Nakla Primary Eye Treatment and Care Center, who run by  K Zaman BNSB Eye Hospital of Mymensingh.

A colorful procession was brought out from front of the Nakla Primary Eye Treatment and Care Center premises, under the initiative of K Zaman BNSB Eye Hospital of Mymensingh. The rally procession was brought out that paraded important roads of Nakla municipale town and ends at the same place.

Shahiduzzaman System Administrator of Dr K Zaman BNSB Eye Hospital of Mymensingh, Hafizur Rahman Liton Mayor of Nakla municipale, Ferdous Rahman country director of Good People International Bangladesh, Project Officer Minhaj Ahmed, Chamiul Haque Mukta member of district council, Abu Sayed Md Tamim refectstnix, Nazmus Shakib PEC in charge of Nakla Primary Eye Treatment and Care Center, Md Jahangir Alam head teacher of primary school, FM Kamrul Alam Ranzu joint convenor and Ayub Khanmember of upazila JL; members of the governing council and others officials of the Nakla Primary Eye Treatment and Care Center, students and teachers of different educational institutions, journalists of different media and many others were also participated the rally.

According to various information, at present, about 32 crore people in the world suffer from various eye diseases. Of these, about 4 crore people are blind and about 28 million people suffer from other eye diseases. In order to extend sympathy to them, different programs were observed on this day in October every year on the occasion of 'World Eye Day'.

According to information, the numbers of people with visual impairment will almost double by 2020 if eye care is not taken on urgent basis. According to the information, one elderly man is being blinded every second and one child is being blinded every minute.

According to one statistics, 90 percent blind people of the world are live in developing countries. "Vision-2020" is an international organization, who working to solve the problems of the visually impaired including developing countries. The task of this organization is to develop a national blind prevention program in collaboration with the government of different countries, including creating mass awareness in the prevention of blindness.

Sworn in to build a world free of blindness by 2020, the World Health Organization has announced a comprehensive program with this goal in mind. The first of which is to establish social movement through awareness by identifying blindness as an important health problem.
