Abrar torture planned in messenger group

The much-talked-about Rifat Sharif killing was planned in a secret messenger group, which was run by Nayan Bond and others. In the same way, the torture of BUET student Abrar Fahad was planned in a messenger group. The day before the incident, Chhatra League leaders and activists exchanged information among themselves through a messenger group. It was directed through a message to drive Abrar from the dormitory by beating.

To implement the direction, Abrar was summoned to room number 2011 of Sher-e-Bangla Hall. He was tortured there around five hours. When Abrar died, BCL leaders and activists got unnerved. They planned to dump the body outside the hall. But their plan came unstuck. Police got the information from the accused on remand in the case over the murder of Abrar.

Sources said Mehedi Hasan Robin, organizing secretary of the BUET unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, directed the torture of Abrar in a messenger group on Saturday. Mentioning the 16th batch around 12:45pm on Saturday, Robin wrote Abrara has to be driven off the hall after giving a beating.

Two-day time was given to complete the task. Moniruzzaman Monir asked all to come to the ground floor of the hall at 7:55pm on Sunday. Abrar was taken to the second floor at 8:13pm by Sadat, Jemy, Tanim, Billal and some others. At 1:26am, Ifti wrote, "Fahad is dying. Excessive beating has been given."
