Don’t let termites eat up ‘progress’: Hasan

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday urged Awami League leaders and workers to properly project the development activities of the government among people.

“Don’t allow termites to eat up the progress achieved by the government. The development activities of the government will have to be projected properly before people,” he said.

Dr Hasan, also AL publicity and publication secretary, made this call at a views-exchange meeting arranged by the AL district unit at the Circuit House in Cox’s Bazar, said a handout.

He said many people infiltrated into the ruling party as AL has been in power for three consecutive terms. “Now all want to be AL men and get into the ‘boat,’ the electoral symbol of the ruling party.

Noting that there is no need to allow everybody into the AL’s boat, Hasan Mahmdud said actions will have to be taken against those who have already infiltrated into the party.

“Those who had once opposed AL, they now want to ride in the AL’s boat,” he said adding the trashes will have to be cleaned before the next national council of the ruling party.

Pointing at the AL leaders and activists, Dr Hasan said all will have to work together in eradicating drug menace from society as the Prime Minister has announced a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against it.

“We’re in power due to the party (AL) as it took us to power. It can’t be accepted that the party will earn ‘bad name’ for a handful of people, said the minister urging all the leaders and activists to be careful in this regard.
