The students of Sylhet Polytechnic Institute and Sylhet Technical School and College organised the protest at the main entrance of the institute at 10 am.
Speakers at the human chain said some miscreants in the name of students have been tormenting general students creating torture cells at various educational institutes including Sylhet Polytechnic Institute.
Such instances are shameful for an independent country, they said, demanding immediate justice for Abrar.
Abrar, 21, a second-year electrical and electronic engineering (EEE) student of Buet, was beaten to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university on October 7. He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory.
