"We met when we were in school, and were 'kind of friends'. I found him extremely cute, but what really got me was how mysterious he was. He wasn't very out there, and didn't have a very loud personality -- but oh my god, he was so attractive! I didn't know if he liked me, and I was too shy to tell him.
But a friend accidentally blurted it out to him! I was so embarrassed...but he said he liked me too! After that we'd always sit in class together, wait for field trips so that we could spend the day together and bunk tuitions to go on dates! It was the perfect high school romance!
We were together for 4 years, but that's when I decided to go to U.S.A to study. We didn't know if we'd be able to do long distance but decided to go with the flow. I remember he threw me this huge farewell party, and even cried when he hugged me goodbye at the airport. After a few months, I decided to come back to India.
Soon it was my birthday, and he asked me to meet him. When we did, he gifted me a dupatta that he had bought for my birthday long ago. He said this was his way of getting closure, and that he'd be out of my life now. That day, when he left, the thought of never seeing him again just left me numb.
I knew I had a lot of repairing to do but I was ready to fight for him. Today, we've been together for 10 years -- and we've never been more in love! It's beautiful, pure and so comforting. We see each other every week -- we still fight but at least we can resolve them sitting across from each other.
I still have a lot of making up to do but just recently, he told me that he feels he is on the same page as me and can open up to me once again. And I guess that's what love is all about, making mistakes, fighting, arguing but still being crazy about each other and knowing that at the end of the day, you'll always find your way back -- because you have forever to spend together!"
