Customs intelligence detained three persons with 2.560 kilogrammes of gold and 10 mobile phone sets at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday. "We recovered the 2.560-kg gold and 10 mobile sets after searching them from domestic hall area around 11am. The estimated cost of the seized gold and sets is Taka 1.33 crore," an official of Dhaka Custom House Prevention Team said, reports BSS.
The detainees were identified as Aflatun Akhter Mukti, Konika Hossain Jhunu and Saiful Islam. They were the passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines which was landed at the airport from Mascot via Sylhet, said the officer-in-charge (OC) of airport thana Md Noor-e-Azam Miah. The customs authority handed over the gold and mobile sets to Airport Police Station. Legal actions have been taken in this regard, the OC also said.
