The local administration will start a drive to free rivers and canals from encroachers in Chandpur district on December 23. The decision was taken at a view-exchange meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday, reports UNB. Secretary to the Water Resources Ministry Kabir Bin Anwar, who took part in the meeting through video conferencing, said the boundary of the assets under the ministry will be demarcatde as per the Bangladesh Water Policy-2018. He also asked the deputy commissioner to inform the media people ahead of the evection drive and if anyone is found obstructing the drive then it will be captured in the video. DC Majedur Rahman Khan, said the local administration and Water Development Board will conduct the eviction drive and notices will be served to the illegal occupiers to free the land within Nov 10.
