Sainik League leader arrested with phensedyl, sent to jail

A leader of Bangabandhu Sainik League has been arrested with 2 bottles of phensedyl from his pharmacy.

The arrestee Shamim Akter, 40, is the Vice President of Dhunot upazila Bangbandhu Sainik League of Bogura.

He is the son of Amjad Hossain of Uttor Officeer para under Dhunot municipal area.

According to the case statement, Shamim used to give treatment as a fake doctor sitting at his medicine shop at the upazila health complex intersection for a long time.

Local residents alleged that in guise of providing treatment to the people, he used to stock various drug items at his pharmacy. He himself also take narcotics.

Shamim took preparation to sell phensedyl from his medicine shop on Friday night. Being informed, police carried out drive in the pharmacy and arrested him along with the two bottles of phensedyl.

Korban Ali, President of Dhunot upazila Bangabandhu Sainik League, said “We heard that Shamim Akter was arrested by police along with phensedyl. Organisational action will surely be taken against him if the charge against him is proved”.

Ismail Hossain, OC of Dhunot police station, said there is long-time allegation against Shamim Akter for drug trade and taking narcotics. After arresting him with phensedyl, he has been sent to jail.

He has been sent to Bogura district jail from Dhunot police station through court.
