A total of 105 teachers from 15 schools under 23 No. ward of Gazipur City Corporation were participated in the training workshop.
BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the training workshop as chief guest while Chief Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr. Debashish Sarker presided over the function.
BARI Director (Support & Services) Dr. Babu Lal Nag and Chief Scientific Officer of Plant Pathology Division Dr. Firoza Khatun were present as special guest.
Scientists and officials from various divisions of BARI were also present on the occasion. Senior Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman Sarkar conducted the function. Five teachers who were participated in the workshop also expressed their feelings.
In his speech as chief guest, BARI Director General Dr. Abul Kalam Azad said the present government wants to provide safe and nutritious food to the people in their election manifesto.
BARI scientists are working to achieve that goal of the government. Safe food is now the basic rights. The pesticides are widely used in vegetables grown in different parts of the country. Excessive use of pesticides in crops can pose a threat to public health. That's why we need to use bio pesticides. Besides, we have different types of technology.
We can assure safety of our next generation and ourselves by using this. So we organized this training workshop today from our social responsibility. I hope the teachers present here will get a full understanding of this through today's training workshop and will convey it to everyone, including the students.
