Bangladesh Men's Under-23 cricket team is all set to depart Dhaka today to Nepal to take part the prestigious South Asian Games (SA Games) 2019 cricket event with the high hopes of sealing gold medal.

Almost all Bangladeshi athletes have already reached in Nepal but Bangladesh's men cricket team will fly for Nepal today morning. Earlier on Friday night, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member squad for the event that features international experienced Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain.

Nazmul Hasan Shanto will lead Bangladesh SA Games cricket team. Shanto led Bangladesh team in recent concluded Emerging Team's Asia Cup which was held in Bangladesh. Despite showing spirit show throughout Emerging teams Asia Cup, hosts Bangladesh suffered crushing defeat against Pakistan in the final. Bangladesh's most of Emerging teams' players will play in the SA Games.

Bangladesh cricket team won gold in 2010 SA games. The last edition of SA Games was held in 2016 but there was no cricket event in that edition. Nepal will host 2019 SA games where cricket will return in this edition. As usual cricket-mad Bangladesh is one of favourites in this discipline. With promising leg spinner Aminul Islam ruled out due to injury, Bangladesh added batsman Saif Hasan and pacer Manik Khan.

Habibul Bashar one of the selectors of Bangladesh cricket team will also go in SA Games as Bangladesh team manager.  Along with Bangladesh, the hosts Nepal, Sri Lanka (U-23), Maldives and Bhutan are the other participants.

Bangladesh will play their first game of the event on December 4 against the Maldives before taking on Bhutan on December 6. Tigers will face hosts Nepal on December 7 before their last league fixture against Sri Lanka on December 8.  After the league stage, the top two teams will be promoted to the final. The third and fourth team will play a match for the third place as well.

Bangladesh Men's cricket team for SA Games: Saif Hassan, Mohammad Naim, Afif Hossain, ZakirHasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Yasir Ali, Minhajul Abedin Afridi, Sumon Khan, Mahidul Ankon, Tanvir Islam, Manik Khan, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Soumya Sarkar, Mahadi Hasan and Hasan Mahmud.
