'Militants use mobile apps'

Law and order forces have informed that radical Islamic militants are using mobile apps to communicate with each other. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from the capital's Khilkhet area on Saturday.

The arrestees are Mohammad Masum Mia alias Masum (30), Abu Bakar Siddique alias Emran (19), Rakibul Hasan alias Siam (18) and Abdullah Al Roman alias Roman Khan (22). Different extremist books, leaflets, radical digital content and cell phones were recovered during their arrest.

Senior Assistant Police Super Mohammad Sajedul Islam, Assistant Director of RAB 4 told media that Ansarullah Bangla Team's target is to establish a theocratic state in Bangladesh according to Islamic Shariah.

The members of Ansarullah Bangla Team do not support democracy. They launch attacks on those who do not accept their ideology. They often use sharp weapons instead of guns.

Mohammad Sajedul Islam also informed that the militants use different mobile apps like Imo, Messenger, Telegram etcetera to keep in touch with one another.

The arrested militants communicated with each other through online connectivity to share information about training and militant ideas but they met physically to talk about important decisions and making plans.
