Terming education as the first and foremost necessity of the nation, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has urged all concerned particularly the teachers to ensure quality education. "
The matter of quality education should be considered with utmost importance, teachers and other stakeholders must play vital roles with sincerity and honesty to ensure quality education," she said. The minister came up with the remarks while attending the opening ceremony on education related workshop as chief guest in Rajshahi on Sunday.
National University (NU) organized the workshop titled "Education Improvement in 13 Century-old Colleges" at Rajshahi College where principals of all 13 century-old colleges of the country were present.
Senior Secretary to the Secondary and Higher Education Division , Sohrab Hossain attended the workshop as special guest while NU Vice-Chancellor Prof Harun-Or-Rashid presided over the program.
Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Syed Golam Faruque and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of NU Prof Hafiz Hassan Babu also delivered speech on the occasion.
In response to a set of recommendations for further upgrading the country's ancient and glorified colleges, placed before the minister Dipu Moni assured her all-possible help and cooperation to resolve existing problems being faced by the colleges.
Noting that admission of the additional students beyond limit would hamper quality education, she urged the college principals to admit students in accordance with their respective seat capacity. The minister urged the principals to uphold the tradition and heritage of the country's ancient colleges through their heartfelt efforts.
The colleges are: Rajshahi College, Chottoram Government College, Chottogram Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College, Norail Victoria College, Barishal Brojomohan College, Sylhet Murali Chand College, Pabna Edward College, Comilla Victoria College, Khulna Brojo Lal College, Mymensingh Ananda Mohan College, Rangpur Carmaikel College, Bagerhat Profullah Chandra College and Faridpur Razendra College.
