Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said corrupt elements in Awami League are under surveillance as the party is undergoing a purge.
“Actions will be taken against them [corrupt people] in due to time. No corrupt element will be spared as Awami League will recognise only honest and dedicated leaders,” he said.
Obaidul Quader, also Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, said this at the triennial meeting of Narail district Awami League at Narail Govt Victory College.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched a drive against corruption, drugs and terrorism. We need to make this a success together,” Quader told the meeting.
Pointing at the party leaders and activists, the Awami League leader said, “Say no to terrorism, say no to drug, say no to tender manipulation and say no to extortion.”
Quader also asked the Awami League leaders not to invite controversial people to the party. “There’s no need to hire activists. We won’t co-opt our relatives in the party committees leaving out dedicated leaders. Evaluating the performances of dedicated leaders, they’ll be put in due position,” he added.
