Armed robbers blasting crude bombs looted gold ornaments and cash from three jewelries and a grocery shops at Muladi Bazar in Muladi upazila town of Barishal on early Tuesday.
The looted shops were Rita Jewelry, Banosree Jewelers, Mamoni Jewelers, and grocery shop Jamal Stores.Locals and owners of the shops said the armed robbers raided the bazaar and confined the traders into a grocery shop of the market.
Then the miscreants looted 25 tolas of gold ornaments and Tk 1.10 lakh cash from three jewelries and grocery shop.Profulla Karmakar, owner of Rita Jewelry, said at least 20/25 robbers equipped with different types of fire arms, lethal sharp weapons blasting crude bomb in the bazaar area created panic at 2.30 am Tuesday.
The miscreants detained owners of the shops inside a grocery store and looted gold and money from three jewelries and a grocery shop.
A team of police patrolling near market when challenged the looter gang, the robbers blasting crude bombs creating panic safely managed to flee from the spot boarding on water transports at around 3.15 AM Tuesday, said Naimul Huq, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Barishal.
After that police recovered an unexploded crude bomb and other evidences from the spot.Barishal district superintendent of police (SP) Saiful Islam and other high officials of the administration visited the spot on Tuesday.
A case of robbery was preparing to be lodged with Muladi police station and police already started drives for arresting the miscreants and recovering the looted goods, the SP added.
