One killed in elephant attack

An elderly man was trampled to death by a wild elephant while another died of cardiac arrest after being panicked at Pathorer Char village in Dewanganj upazila on Wednesday.
OC of Dewanganj Police Station, said a herd of elephants came down from the hill area of India on Tuesday night. Sensing the presence of the elephants, local people tried to drive them away in the morning. Zaharul Islam, 60, of the village was trampled by one elephant while trying to drive them away. Besides, Abdul Latif, 55, a resident of the village, died of cardiac arrest after being panicked by the elephant attack. The elephants also destroyed the standing crops in the area.
