The two-month training courses on 'Development of Satranji Industry Rangpur-II Project' ended with distribution of certificates and crests among 60 trainees at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Nilphamari town on Friday.
Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industry Corporation (BSCIC) conducted the training courses for 20 trainees cum entrepreneur in three separate batches at Nilphamari BSCIC Industrial Town for six months, reports BSS.
Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest with Deputy Manager of Nilphamari BSCIC Industrial Support Centre Husne Ara Khatun in the chair.
Deputy Director (Local Government) for Nilphamari Abdul Motaleb Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Azharul Islam, Assistant Project Officer of Satranji Project and Deputy Manager of BSCIC Rangpur Ehsanul Haque, Course Coordinator Nurul Haque and Senior Vice-president of Nilphamari Chamber Hamidur Rahman attended as special guests.
The Deputy Commissioner said the training courses would be useful for the Satranji cottage industry as well as trainee cum entrepreneurs to become financially self-reliant and create employment of people to enhance their socio-economic development. Accounts Officer of the Satranji project Abdul Baki said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the project for employment generation of the people of greater Rangpur region to improve their socio-economic conditions.
"On completion of the training courses, each of the trainee entrepreneurs are being provided with easy-term loan at only five percent simple interest nrate along with Taka 14,000 in cash and machines and certificates to launch their Satranji enterprises," he said.
"The just provided trainings in Nilphamari on three courses included making high quality Satranji with jute yarn, Satranji with 'mokmol' and cotton yarn and making tapestry with jute and cotton yarn," he said. "Some 2,775 female trainees of Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts have already completed the training courses.
