Bangabandhu is the architect of modern agriculture

Kbd Belal Hossain

I am very proud as I was born in 'Sonar Bangla' of the greatest Bengali of a thousand years Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu always thought about the development of the agriculture of the country. He said if the villages of the country are developed, the country will develop and then the lucks of all will develop. He created a new chapter giving first class status to agriculturist profession.

Then, he reformed the all agricultural institutions which working with research, education and expansion of agriculture. In 1971, there was 25-30 lakh tons of food shortage in the country. Today, we have less land but we are going ahead meeting our huge food demand. In 1973, Bangabandhu imported 127 Fijian cows from Australia by which artificial insemination program was launched in the country for the first time.

Later, the production of milk and meat has been increased due to the improvement of genetic quality of domestic cow. As a result, we have become able to meet the need of protein. We are now self-sufficient in all animal food including milk, egg and fish etc. Bangbandhu said, "Beggars nation does have any honor". Therefore, his incomplete dreams have been made real story by his competent daughter Jananetri Sheikh Hasina.
